Well, it’s official. Chris Evans has signed on to be Captain America in the 2011 film leading into the Avengers movie. You may know him from the Fantastic Four movies, Push, Cellular and Sunshine to name a few. It is stated that he has signed for at least three films. The first film is rumored to be set in WWII. Not sure how I feel about this casting decision yet, but I am hopeful he may work out. I just hope he tones down the cocky Johnny Storm/action character he is used to playing for a more serious and believable leader role that the Cap character demands. Bulk him up, throw in the “man out of time” concept for the sequels and he may just do this character justice. Hugo Weaving of the Matrix movies is set to opposite Chris in the film as the Red Skull. I am intently waiting to see his take of a Nazi bad ass on the screen. Enclosed are images from the film, as well as some fan created pics.
